Guest Posted August 5, 2014 Share Posted August 5, 2014 we do but have had to change our format to come into line with reception so new planning is no good for you as they just write down topics for long term plan, so we have added ours onto this. i feel doing this ensures we are covering all aspects on a regular basis - at least every term and a half, and for areas such as literacy every term. long term plan is very loose topics e.g. stories/nursery rhymes and we match the aspects to the topic they seemed to lend themselves to most. so i just continue to do this without recording it formally, as i know it works for us! Yes, I worry about coverage; I will continue to have very 'loose' topics but plan to link aspects where they best fit. I am also aware of the need for covering literacy - I feel that we often overlook traditional stories. Children's interests can still be catered for very easily starting with a learning provocative and mind maps.
