Guest
Just a quickie - Do you have winners 1st, 2nd, 3rd place at sports day? (if you do a sports day) Our children are aged 2-5. Thanks
thumperrabbit
We don't - everyone just gets a medal and certificate at the end
Guest
Thanks thumperrabbit, do you mind me asking why? We have never had winners but I am having a bit of an issue with a new staff member and a committee member (both non-parents). I personally don't think that 2/3 year olds necessarily understand or need to understand the concept at this age and if some 4/5 year olds do, it will only make them upset on the day if they don't win - surely this isn't important at their age? thumperrabbit
Due to everything you've mentioned above really, added to the fact that Sports day is our last day of term and I want it to finish on a positive note not a tearful one!!
Beau
We never had 'placings' on Sports Day. All the children got a sticker or medal at the end, as well as an ice lolly.
Conker
Hi, we have 1st - 3rd and Well Done stickers, so every child in a race gets a sticker. The races are varied so that all the children ( and the teddys too!) have a selection of stickers and we also have medallions that every child gets at the end. Sometimes the activity is so closely matched, they all have to have a 1st!
