Guest Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I'm a student studying child care, a few weeks a go I made a post asking for articles of several acts/legislation's/policies that weren't being carried out effectively that ended in an incident, I've just received it back and I now need to add in articles proving they are carried out effectively and do work in most settings! I need articles on... adult to child ratio, food safety act, sudden illness procedure, risk assessments and data protection act. If anyone knows of any articles or the type of website I may be able to find these on it would be very very helpful. I've trawled the internet but can't think why this type of article would be published because surely if it's going right there's no story!! (but you guys may be in the know!) Thanks in advance (I'm relying on you guys as you helped me last time!!!)
Helen Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I'm not sure I understand what you need  Do you need information about regulation child/staff ratios and then to write a piece saying how these keep children safe? And the same with the rest of your list, e.g. how risk assessments, carried out efficiently, help to prevent accidents?
Guest Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 No I need articles (i.e. news stories) of adult to child ratio (& the rest on the list) working well in a setting... Its hard to explain! and they're hard to find. My tutor wrote 'You must explain examples where policies/legislation has/does work'
Helen Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 How about scouring some Ofsted reports? You'd see things like: "Children's well-being is significantly enhanced by the childminder's excellent organisation, thorough procedures and comprehensive risk assessments, ensuring that hazards are minimised and children's safety is promoted at all levels" I can't think how you're going to find articles on this....sorry
