Guest
Hi, Am following someone elses planning for phonics in reception and was a bit of unsure of what the following terms mean. " Generate and then read words using sound buttons i.e. pick, neck, duck etc" and "Revise segmenting for spelling using phoneme fingers" would really appreciate if you could help me understand this, Thanks! Susan
" Generate and then read words using sound buttons i.e. pick, neck, duck etc" "Revise segmenting for spelling using phoneme fingers" In the first example the word is written because you are reading and sound buttons( small spots) are written underneath each phoneme/ sound. In your example there will be 3, ck is a diagraph and has one spot underneath both letters. In the second example, you are spelling so the word will be spoken and children will use fingers to count the phonemes. Using the words form the first example, they will count 3 phonemes and show 3 fingers! Hope that helps.
