Guest Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 For those of you interested in the FACTS and RESEARCH of phonic teaching, here is a long but easy reading memo by Professor Rhona S Johnston, University of Hull and Dr Joyce Watson, University of St Andrews. http://www.parliament.the-stationery-offic...121/5020702.htm Regards
Helen Posted May 12, 2005 Posted May 12, 2005 Thank you It offers a clear description of analytic and synthetic phonics, and the distinction between the two approaches. The research based in the one reception class in the UK and in the Clackmannanshire schools certainly indicates that these results may well be replicated elsewhere. Let's hope the results of further research will become available soon.
