Guest Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Hi I have found out today my ta who is HLTA is not paid for HLTA status if that makes sense but covered my ppa and nqt time last year and does my supply. On top of that a new member of staff who has a english degree not even education claims unqualified teacher for ppa in KS2 and a qualified teacher who chooses to work as a TA claims PPA as unqualified teacher. Surely this is wrong. Can anyone shed some light Quote

Surely this is wrong. Can anyone shed some light HLTA status does not automatically attract HLTA payscale this depends upon the school having a HLTA position in the staffing structure. Basically anyone can provide PPA "cover" it doesn't have to be a teacher or HLTA. TAs can cover short term absence (in FS suitable staffing ratios would apply if no teacher present) Quote
Guest Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Thanks but if she is being paid just normal ta pay and this other ta with no ta qualification just english degree getting unqualified teacher isnt that abit unfair. I sometimes think just because its FS its just easy. I feel abit sorry for her she does alot when this other person cant even remember its was day off and still comes in as doesnt listen. THanks again Quote

THanks again I would compare the rates because our TAs are paid more than unqualified teacher's pay scale. Quote
