Oh My What To Do?

Evening everyone

I am really in need of some inspiration. I have an interview and they want me to an introduction to a lit lesson and it developing into some writing. What my mental block is that I would never ask a whole F2 class to sit and write at the same time and yet would I keep an F2 class on the carpet for half an hour? NO! So my dilemma is what on earth do I do? I feel a fool calling and asking the school but I am so unclear about what they want. I have no problems with intro but how to develop into writing and involve everyone is doin my head in.....

Any help would be great

Do what you would normally do.

Would you do a whole class imput and then set the children off and have oppertunitires for writing in the continous provision?

Definitely do what you would usually do. Whole class session and then small adult led group/s (depending on TAs) doing adult led writing activities whilst the others go and do continuous provision. Just make sure that you have personally planned and put in writing opportunities into the usual continuous provision that they have in the class. I always get really hung up on "doing what the school want/usually do" but then I realised that actually they are looking for what you would usually do and often really love it if you introduce something new or a new way of doing things. If they have a very formal reception class currently it could be that they are looking for someone to shake things up a bit, so definitely go with what you believe in rather than what you think they want.
