Guest
I have Reception and Year 1, not Year 2 though. Don't envy you in your task - its hard enough with just R/Y1! Am happy to discuss what we do if it helps? Kathryn

bgfrancis
I teach Reception and Year 1, although only have 5 Year 1's. I have found it very difficult to make sure all of the children are given the activities and attention they need, especially with only 2 adults! It used to be a case of one of us working with the Year 1's on their tasks whilst the other worked with a Reception group whilst keeping an eye on the others involved in CI tasks. Recently, I have been experimenting with introducing the Year 1 work to the whole class as an introduction and then moving into groups. Year 1's have a focused activity in the morning and then the whole class has one after play. The afternoons are Child Initiated for Reception and the Year 1's normally have another activity. It's certainly a juggling act and i've probably explained it very badly! Hope this helps x
