Guest Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Hi Just a quick question - we have a student who is with us just for a couple of months, she has a CRB from her college, do we still need to do a crb at the setting, as by the time its gone through she will be leaving... what do others do... i have already said she can't be left alone with the children or do the toilets etc... what are your thoughts... Sue R Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Usually we would err on the side of caution in this instance and say not to be left alone. Sue Quote
anju Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I have a college student too and am doing the same: no toileting and always with someone else in sight. Quote
Guest Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Our Head wouldn't let our current nursery student into work with us until her CRB from college came through and then she had to bring it in with her for us to see. Quote
Guest Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 To err on the side of caution we always send for our own CRB check as it costs nothing. I agree that it might be after the student has left but I prefer to be cautious in terms of Ofsted checks. If the student is only with us for 2/3 weeks then we don't obviously, but if it is moving to a number of months then we do. And obviously we don't allow them unsupervised, toilets, changing etc. Quote
dottyp Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 We would ask to see the original CRB from college and keep a copy on record. If the person was working for a couple of weeks we wouldn't apply for a new CRB but if as some others say with was months, then a CRB would be required. dottyp Quote
Guest Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Hi there At my recent suitable person interview with Ofsted, I was told that a new person (any) should only work under supervision at all times if they did not have a setting specific CRB certificate. HTH Lesley Quote
