Guest
I received this email today and hope you don't mind if I share it with you. At the moment we have a sevely disabled little boy in preschool who was so badly shaken by his faher as a baby he suffered permanent brain damage. He is 3, his father is out of prison but the little boy has to live with this every day for the rest of his life - I couldn't help seeing his lovely little face as I read this poem .... Please make it stop - Daddy it hurts My name is Chris , I am three, My eyes are swollen... I cannot see. I must be stupid, I must be bad, What else could have made, My daddy so mad? I wish I were better, I wish I weren't ugly, Then maybe my mummy, Would still want to hug me. I can't do a wrong, I can't speak at all, Or else I'm locked up, All day long. When I'm awake, I'm all alone, The house is dark, With no-one at home. I just heard a car, My daddy is back, From Charlie's bar I hear him curse, My name is called , I press myself, Against the wall. I try to hide, From his evil eyes, I'm so afraid now, I'm starting to cry. He finds me weeping, Calls me ugly words, He says its my fault, He suffers at work. He slaps and hits me, And yells at me more, I finally get free, And run to the door. He's already locked it, And I start to bawl, He takes me and throws me, Against the hard wall. I fall to the floor, With my bones nearly broken, And my daddy continues, With more bad words spoken. 'I'm sorry!', I scream, But it's now much to late, His face has been twisted, Into a unimaginable shape. The hurt and the pain, Again and again, O please God, have mercy! O please let it end! And he finally stops, And heads for the door, While I lay there motionless, Sprawled on the floor. My name is Chris , I am three, Tonight my daddy, Murdered me. At first I thought this was just a chain letter then I realised that each one of us CAN make a difference - we CAN help. This happens across the board, no matter how much money parents have or their ethnicity. For the sake of Chris and all the others like him who will suffer today -and tomorrow. Do something NOW - forward this to everyone on your address list. See how YOU CAN help ..... http://www.nspcc.org.uk/
Beau
Can I just urge you please not to send this email on! It won't have originated from the NSPCC or been authorised by them and I would imagine that they would be horrified to have a chain letter being circulated on their behalf. Many charities suffer from well meaning people who start these things off in their name. Junk mail is a pest and many people get quite upset and angry by it, and the person receiving it may actually decide not to support the charity because of it. If you want to make a difference there are far better ways of raising the profile of a charity and you can always send a donation if it is something you feel strongly about. Guest
I am so sorry you feel this way. I found this really moving and it actually prompted me to click on the link and look at ways to help. The email is only trying to make people aware and to prompt them into action. The NSPCC may not have initiated it, but the link is only to their Web site which explains their organisation , what they do the ways each one of us can help. If nothing else, it makes us more aware. I hate junk mail as much as everyone, but in this instance, I felt it had a real impact on me and never imagined it might have a negative on anyone! Guest
It's a subject close to the hearts of us all on here. After my last Child Protection Training I signed up as a Campaign Partner for the NSPCC. They provide letters and postcards to send to your M.P to gain support for their campaign issues or posters for you to display in your setting. A great way to feel I'm doing SOMETHING.
