Part of the interview is to give a 7 minute presentation/speech i.e. without visual, aids on the following; 'What do you see as the most important elements of effective early intervention work with children?’ The job itself is with a new children’s multi agency service targeted on vulnerable children and families, by taking a whole family approach, it will focus on supporting vulnerable children and families resolve their difficulties at an earlier stage before they become entrenched and require specialist services. I do have some ideas but if any of you lovely people can give some ideas too I'd really appreciate it!! Is it me or does 7 minutes seem a funny length of time?? Lucie Posted August 11, 2009 Share Posted August 11, 2009 7 minutes does seem funny, can only think that maybe it will be so that when you get to 10 they stop you?? I didnt want to read and run and my first instinct was to recognise the factors that could be an issue further down the line and equip the family with strategies to combat these. Cant think of an example tho! Also a strong positive relationship with the family so that they are willing to work with you and not feel threatened by your assistance...although that comes back to giving the family the strategies to deal with things themselves, recognise what the problems are (or could be) and not rely on others to do things for them. I go bright red and stutter, the only advice i have really is to talk about an area you are confident in so if you are confident in 1 aspect, touch on the others briefly to show you do know about them but talk mostly about what you know and are likely to remember. i'm sure other people will have much better advice, also there is lots and lots of info on the early support website about the benefits of supporting and working with families as soon as the need is there. also information of the CAF and contact point hope it helps a little bit!
