Before the EYFS we were only ever allowed to have a max of 26 children in a room. I cannot find anything about it in the new pack. Is this still the case?

I don't know about 26 in a room.........

Since nurseries got 3 year olds its been 26 to a session in those that are staffed with a teacher and a nursery nurse.

I think ratios are 1:13 in maintained and 1:8 in priavte settings.

In reception they can have 30 children max with 2 staff. I think!

Well they've removed the "under 2's can only be kept in groups of no more than 12" stipulation so its possible they've removed that stipulation too. As long as the sq meterage for the amount of children is correct the amount can be anything (under 2's)

it used to be 26 maximum to a room in private settings but like you say im not sure if they have changed that?

they also used to say minimum of 1 toilet and sink per 10 children, we have a massive hall but for a long time only had two sinks so where limited to 20 children, I am not sure but I think there is still the requirement to have 1 sink and toilet for every 10 children?

Thought it was no. of children per square meterage of room? So they mesaure the room and tell you how mnay children fit that space?

Yes I always thought it was to do with how much space you have.

In fact, I know it to be true - it's in the statutory framework.
