Guest Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Hi You can find a list of the 45 High frequency or Key words in the back of the literacy strategy. Has anyone heard of Action Words. Its a kind of Jolly Phonics type approach for teaching key words and it worked really well when we used it last year.

Guest Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Thanks everyone Just printing the key words from First school years. What are action words? Please tell!
Guest Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Would love more info on the action words. Thanks for the website I am also printing a copy.
Guest Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Wasn't sure if it was well known or not. Action Words is a kineasthetic appraoch to reading key words, each word has a picture and action, kind of like Jolly Phonics. Its been really helpful with our children who have low literacy skills and high sen ratio. There's a website www.actionwords.co.uk which explains it and gives sample pages. You can buy two books, plus other resources, book 1 is reception key words and book 2 key stage 1. Have a look and let me know what you think.
