I'm in nursery and I generally only concentrate on '1 more'. I would have thought with most children it would be easier to grasp 1 more' and then go on to '1 less' but would depend on the age of your children.

 

By the time my children move on to reception class most have a good undertanding of '1 more'.

The funny thing about one more and one less is that almost all the good songs are about one less - except the elephants on the string!

 

I'd introduce them separately, on different days, but then relate them once they've been introduced and consolidate both together.
