mand
I have a lot of low ability children this year and no high flyers. They did very little reading in Reception and came into year 1 with poor sight word and sound knowledge. I am finding it a real struggle this year any advise greatly appreciated. Lorna
Are you following the sounds and letters program. There are lots of games to reinforce early reading and writing skills. Also do you have an outdoor area you can use? It is so good for promoting talka nd opportunities for mark making. Lots of speaking an listening games and activities also.... Sorry I have not been that specific hopefully others more knowledgeable will be ablong soon. L
luluj
Hi Mand.I agree with Lorna. The Letters and Sounds programme taught for that discrete 20min slot has really 'pushed along' those flagging Year 1's in both reading and writing.Reception are making terrific progress too. luluj
