Guest Wolfie Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Has anyone read anything good recently?? I'm off on holiday next week and need some good books to take - nothing too serious but nothing TOO frivolous either! I'm reading The Island by Victoria Hislop at the moment and really enjoying that - I'll try most things except science fiction and horror!! Quote
Helen Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Hi Wolfie, I've just finished "The Other Boleyn Girl" by Phillippa Gregory. I've not read many historical novels so can't really compare with others, but I really enjoyed this one. Also, I didn't know anything about Mary Boleyn, so it helped improve my atrocious knowledge of history! Quote
Guest Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I like a 'disposable' book for holiday so I got 4 second hand ones off the village christmas fair stalls.Once read I can dump them and it doesn't matter if they get wet on the beach or jacussi.4 totally trashy historical novels (not Mills and Boon!!)and if i start one and it doesn't gel well...nearest bin. Can wait ....keep picking them up and wondering which to start on the plane.... Quote
Susan Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 I really enjoyed "The Memory Keepers daughter" by Kim Edwards recently. Enjoy your holidays. I rarely read on holiday, too busy going places or sleeping!!! Quote
