Susan
If you are teaching phonics it is good practise to show the children how to form the letter, part of the learning process. If you are teaching handwriting, you can use the letter formation families.
Guest
We are now introducing the phonics and we have been doing hand writing with t he children. Would you advise to get them started on the phonic and to do handwritting only with those who are doing well witht the phonic's? Adele
Susan
As you have posted this within the nursery section I presume you are talking nursery children FS1 perhaps rather that FS2? If this is the case I would concentrate on the phonic element and the letter formation of the each grapheme. Later you can recall sound and name and teach letter formation within families for handwriting, if appropriate. If you are reception I would do both but phoneme/grapheme first.
