Does anybody know how you go about setting up a foundation stage unit? Do you have to go through the LA? Do they always agree?

If you already have a nursery in your sschool then this is a school decision. You would have to get the governing body to discuss and agree it of course but it is really the school who decide on how to organise the children within the school.
If you do not already have a nursery then you would need to speak to the LA as you would be making extra places and this has to have LA agreement.

The key is curiosity, and it is curiosity, not answers that we model. As we seek to know more about a child, we demonstrate the acts of observing, listening, questioning and wondering. When we are curious about a child's words and our responses to those words, the child feels respected. The child is respected. "What are the ideas that I have that are so interesting to the teacher? I must be somebody with good ideas.

Thank you this is very helpful. The nusery is not attached to the school, so I guess we'd have to get the LA involved.
