Hi Weavers,

We hope those of you on your summer holidays have been enjoying your break and have experienced some nice weather! Here at Tapestry HQ we’ve been busy working on adding new resources and features which we hope you will find useful!

Tapestry Encyclopedia

We are delighted this month to announce the release of our ‘Tapestry Encyclopedia’! The Encyclopedia is a compilation of all our different types of resource we have created for Tapestry, such as tutorials, webinars and articles. It was created so all of our resources could be found in one place, hopefully making it easier for you to find what you need to help you with Tapestry. We have divided this into different chapters, like ‘First Steps with Tapestry’ and ‘What to do at the end of the term/year’, to help you navigate around the Encyclopedia and find what you need easily.

You can find the Encyclopedia on the forum here

Changes to the KS1 and KS2 assessment system

As some of you may already aware, we have made some changes to the way the KS1 and KS2 assessment system works on Tapestry.

Previously, assessments made from the summative and formative assessment screens have taken priority over assessments made within observations. After listening to feedback from our users, we have implemented a change to ensure that the most recent assessment always takes priority regardless of how it was made.

As part of this change, a new feature has been added, which means that when you add an assessment from these screens, an observation for this will be created. Don’t worry though if you don’t want to see this type of observation in your list, as you can filter them out.

We have explained this change in more depth in our forum post about it which you can find here. If you have any questions about this, you can contact us by emailing customer.service@eyfs.info

New Features

Data Protection Tab

If you are a manager on Tapestry you may have noticed a new, additional tab on the Control Panel inside your account, called ‘Data Protection’. This has been added to provide you with more information about what you will need to think about regarding data protection on Tapestry. As well as this, we’ve got some helpful links on there for you, such as tutorials. These cover situations some of our customers have experienced, like devices being stolen.

We would highly recommend any managers on Tapestry take a look at this tab to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest data protection guidance.

Subject Access Request

Under the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), people have the right to access personal data you store about them, free of charge and without delay. Therefore, you must provide people with a copy of the data you store about them, if they request it. To help you comply with this, we have added the ability for you to export a ZIP file of all data stored on your Tapestry for a child, staff member or relative.

To learn how to do this, you just need to follow this tutorial.

Reports now included in PDF journals

We know this is a feature many of you have requested, so we’re excited to announce that you can now include children’s reports in their exported PDF journals! You will see this as an option on the export page when you select to download the journal for an individual child, or the journals for multiple children. This tutorial walks you through how to do this on your account.

Tapestry Staff News

This month we are very sad to say goodbye to Sneha, our Montessori curriculum adviser and member of the product support team. Sneha was instrumental in us being able to add the Montessori curriculum to Tapestry and we wish her the best of luck in her next endeavour.

We have also over the last month, welcome three new members of staff! Des has joined the development team as our Android app developer and our Product Support team has gained two new members, Jamie and Jules. Jules will also be using her practitioner experience to write articles on the forum for us. Please join us in welcoming all our new staff.

Reminders

  • Due to the high volume of support requests we receive during September, you may find that our responses take a bit longer than they normally would. We work very hard to ensure we respond to our customers as quickly and helpfully as possible, so please be assured that one of the team will respond to your query as soon as we are able to.
  • When paying a Tapestry invoice by BACS, please ensure you include our invoice number in your payment reference and send a remittance advice to our BACS email address, bacs@eyfs.info. Failure to do this may lead to a delay or us being unable to process your payment. If you have made a payment and have realised your invoice number wasn’t included and you have not sent a BACS remittance, please contact us by emailing customer.service@eyfs.info
