Welcome to the FSF September newsletter
Early Years News
A new SEND assessment guidance has been developed by Dingley’s Promise in collaboration with the Department for Education (DfE). Dingley’s Promise provide specialist nursery education to children under 5 with SEND. This non-statutory guidance has been designed with a view to creating uniformity of assessment to support referral processes. Tapestry users can easily integrate the new SEND assessment guidance – find out more here. You can also read about how it can complement the other frameworks you may be working with, such as the Engagement Model or the Cherry Garden Framework, both of which can be found on Tapestry – check out this article by our SEND Advisor Stephen Kilgour.
If you’re looking for some new books for your setting, take a look at Olu’s Teacher by Jamel Carly Campbell, a story about starting pre-school; and Maya and Marley and the Great Big Tidy Up by Laura Henry-Allain MBE, in which Maya and Marley organise a big clean up operation, getting the whole community involved.
