Welcome to the FSF April newsletter
Early Years News
A report by the Institute of Fiscal Studies (IFS) has found that children from low-income backgrounds who lived near a Sure Start centre in their early years were more likely to do better in their GCSEs than their peers who did not have easy access to a Sure Start centre. You can read about the research in this IFS article.
This report has prompted members of the previous Labour government, who set up the Sure Start programme, to call for the current Labour leadership to put a similar scheme at the heart of their election manifesto. Find out more here.
