We attended this meeting yesterday, thank you to all our guests - it was lovely to meet you! It was a lively meeting and the passion of the early years sector was evident. Joanne McCartney AM, Deputy Mayor for Education and Childcare explained the steps the London Assembly has taken to address workforce issues, including the Early Years Hubs scheme. Jamie Leith, co-founder of Manny & Me, explained his ideas around encouraging more men into the early years workforce. Finally, Michelle Dyson, Director for Early Years and Childcare at the Department for Education provided an update from the Department. Each speaker took questions from the attendees and recognised the current issues faced by the sector. You can read about the meeting in detail here.

We attended the APPG last Wednesday at Westminster along with the PLA, CACHE, Cheryl Hadland and NDNA. Also in attendance were many representatives from our sector all eager to have MPs hear their voice. The Minister, Robert Goodwill MP, listened to provider concerns but seemed to find it hard to grasp the complexities that settings are facing. Consequently, the APPG chair Tulip Siddiq asked for case studies and examples from providers who were happy to be identified to the Minister. This week, the PLA has been collecting this evidence and our FSF survey (and some individual case studies) has been shared with them as there were some exceptional contributions from our members. The survey is now closed but we are still keen to hear from you.

The switch over to our new look went really well and we are pretty much complete. There are a few niggly bits that we are working on now but on the whole we are done ... hurrah! If you find something that doesn't work as you would expect it to can you let us know on this thread please? You can also post on the thread if you are struggling, looking for something or if you have, in any way, found yourself in an FSF website jam! The content and format of our site remains unchanged but our 'feel' and presentation has changed considerably. For those of you that are accessing the site from a tablet or phone you will find the new site much easier to navigate. You will be able to see all the functions much more clearly and the content will be significantly easier to read.

Uploaded safeguarding documents

We have collected together here all the documents referred to in the recent safeguarding articles.
