I am trying to put a list of training together for new practitioners that join the Preschool. Would anybody be willing to share the training that you ask your new staff to carry out when they first start with you please? Do you include Wellcomm training etc?

We have a large water tray area outside in our provision used by both nursery and reception. 
We’re struggling to think of ideas for the winter apart from balls, cars and ramps. We are a large setting with up to 140 children and the area is used during lunch time so it would have to be easy to set up and clean up.

Is there a place where we can update parents what is happening in the setting e.g. dates for your diary and a place to send out news letters 

It says new staff should complete First Aid with 3 months of starting work to be counted in ratio. Does this mean they CANNOT be counted in ratio until they have completed first aid course.

In another area in the statutory guidlines it states at least one member of staff should hold a first aid certifacate on site at all times. 

Does this mean that every member of staff has to have first aid training to be counted in ratio? 

I have a new member of staff starting next week and have her booked for first aid training in October but i was counting her in our ratio (not sure if i can now?)

I currently use a different software for generating invoices for our parents. I'm wondering if Tapestry is able to do the same thing.

Some of our parents attend all year but choose to allocate their funding over 38 weeks (we offer this as 3 full days over 38 weeks) leaving them with a more expensive summer bill in theory, however our system annualises/divides the invoices over 12 months, allowing them to spread the cost. I have seen the previous forum post about annualisation/spreading the cost so thank you for that. My question however is, how can I set up this schedule for a child that receives funding during the term time but not during the holidays? Our current software allows us to have schedules running concurrently i.e. a term time and a non term time contract. When I set up a schedule for a child on Tapestry and add the funding to the specific days, it assumes that that is for the whole 51 weeks, if I have selected 'attends during the holiday'.

sorry been busy so not been on much! Has anyone got any ideas as to how to stop us all going out of business? !!!!

we are a not for profit charity in a sole use rented property currently offering 32,5 hours care and education, 38 weeks a year for the grand sum of £32.50 a week. This is claimed from a charge for lunch club of £6.50 a day in between our two sessions. We do not demand people attend it and they are welcome to take their children out for lunch ! the new government rules will expect me to 'put' this half hour session somewhere else in the day but we run after school club so cant jiggle much. Anyone have a get round/good idea/solution?????? getting rather concerned this small change in wording could remove 33k from our bottom line and put us out of work!
