Preparing for September 2021 in the EYFS

A revised EYFS Framework became statutory from September 2021.

The reforms announced are designed to:

• Improve outcomes at 5 years old.

• Improve language development for all children but particularly for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

• Reduce workload for teachers and childcare practitioners.

Revised non-statutory guidance (still entitled Development Matters, but different from the 2012 version) has been published which can be used in conjunction with the revised statutory framework from 2021. An alternative guidance document entitled Birth to 5 Matters has also been produced.
