Feeling Flattened Today

Our feeder school reception teacher came to our setting today (for a multi agency meeting)

When my staff member opened the door she was joined by twins who always like to greet our visitors.....

.......she introduced the visitor to the girls. " this is Miss T she is going to be your teacher at big school"

Teacher: " your kidding me, what's wrong with them?!" Speechless!

These two delightful girls are currently have specialist teaching support having been born very premature.

This reaction just makes me despair. :(

I know this teacher only wants expected or exceeding children in her class but what is going on in our education system that warrants a reaction like that? Another reason why children should not be in school 'early' and belong in the caring nurturing environment of an early years setting.

Apologies to any 'nice' teachers out there.

She actually said that in front of the children??? That is terrible. We spend lots of time building up the confidence and self esteem of many of our wonderful children and in one thoughtless comment ........

As you rightly pointed out there are many brilliant teachers out there.

Astounded and appalled and definitely needs reporting !

How sad and angry you and your staff must have felt and still do I expect .

Sadly we have had some lack of inclusion type comments made but not anything like this but enough to make me question some motives of some early years teachers who unfortunately allow the system to rule them and not their hearts or heads anymore

Oh my how sad. I'm sorry but if anybody whom had been invited to our setting made that comment I would be reporting them to their seniors which in this case would be the head of the named school.

How on earth are we suppose to work together if that is their first response and without knowing any background.

Thankfully I have only had the privilege of working with like minded folk that want the best for any child irrespective of their needs that comes our way.

Sorry rant over.
