Phone call from department of education

I had a phone call today from someone conducting surveys for the D of E, confirming my details and asking a few questions about what sort of day care i provide as they are sending me a questionnaire to complete, (what sort of day care depends on which questionnaire they send out). I asked if this was linked to the 30 hours and they said yes. I have completed very survey i can find and said on them that i was willing to participate further so maybe it's because of this, just wondered if anyone else had received the call?

If it's the same call I got earlier this week, I'm afraid they caught me at a bad time and I told them to "get lost", but more politely - as any consultation the government undertakes seems to have no effect whatsoever, they are determined to do as they wish regardless of what we may say. Fed up with their endless consultations, its just a way of letting us think we have some say, they think we are idiots.

Don't think so. From what I can remember, if it's the same thing, the survey is carried out on the phone and the form is so that you have the info to hand. It's about your opening hours, numbers and ages of children etc. Same as the LA census really. I will look when I pop into pre-school in the week. Think I may have it filed -somewhere.

what piddles me off is that the info they are asking for is in the public domain....they could get off their bottoms and find it quite easily...I was just about to go outside with the children so got a bit grumpy when she said i'll send you the survey and then started asking me questions

We had the call again on Friday , I asked for him to email so I could verify who he was , he said I can't email and then proceeded to ask me contact details email address etc , when I asked why they were conducting survey , his response was so the D of E can collate our findings and act on them - my response - well that a be a first !

He went through asking what provision we gave , I told him but he still proceeded to ask ' breakfast club ' - no I said immediately but he told me he had to read the whole thing out , I replied but I can say no from the title your giving me ! Honestly like little robots , I hope I never have to do a job like that !

Oh Lashes, I so agree. I had a woman, telephone and the speed at which she was reading was quite ridiculous and I told her to slow down and that I understood she had to read what was in front of her, as so many do these days, but she could at the very least make herself understood! she laughed, but it didn't make too much difference - didn't to me either, still told her I didn't want to be involved in their survey. I wonder if responses were being recorded - oh I do hope so.

I've had these in the past, where a questionnaire lands about a week before the phonecall. They asked all kinds of things, including salaries and I remember I found it very intrusive. I wonder if it's the same thing?

Yes had a phonecall last week like this. They do not work for the DofE but mention this to get you to answer some questions. Didn't really ask me much info, just like mentioned,it is easily obtained information, like our email address. So i have now given my consent to be emailed.I will now receive lots of spam no doubt!!

"conducting a survey in regards to the DofE..." is what throws some of us into complying. So annoying actually!
