lol that's funny louby loo..if they've stuck it on fb they obviously don't care who helps themselves to it...well that's my theory anyway, I found an observation sheet on Tes that I'd put on here years ago :-) (I usually do versions to post with no setting name on).

  • 2 weeks later...

I really think Ofsted are trying to trick us all into 'failing'.....the questions are getting more and more ridiculous - cant think of another 'business' that would be scrutinised to this degree! How on earth are we seriously able to fit in all these initiatives AND care and educate under 5s. They'll be asking us how we plan for World Peace next!! I'm fed up with it! and all because we receive a pathetic amount of funding that has losing sleep trying to balance the books!! Grrrrrrrrrrr

This is how I feel at the moment!

We had our inspection last week and it was the toughest one I've ever been through. Staff got an absolute grilling over British Values and Safeguarding. The newest (although mature) member of staff had a proper ordeal over her induction, mentoring, support that is given to her.

There was lots of questions over information sharing between staff and other providers who children attend.

Safer recruitment linked to safeguarding was a biggie too.

Although we haven't got our report yet, the feedback seemed to be very much about paperwork/admin issues rather than looking at what was actually going on in the room itself. Plus what seemed to be her personal baggage about outdoor play.

I was really disappointed with the whole experience - she arrived 15 minutes late, spent an hour looking round the building and made judgements on 10 minute observations (although we'll see how this is reflected in the report)

Sorry to be a moaning minnie :-(

Sorry you seem to have had a bad experience Running Bunny. Thought maybe things were starting to change for the better after hearing of others more positive experiences. Its a real shame if the move is back towards the 'paper world' of childcare.

If you cant moan, sorry feedback on here then where????

Oh moan on Runningbunny, thats all I seem to do lately!! And we are apparently meant to do all this (according to Mr Sam Gymiah)

with LESS staff as we are not using free entitlement money prudently!! it beggars belief and will not do the morale of the Childcare Sector any good at all.

Hope your report reflects all the good work you do!

Sorry to hear this. I must be honest, I too got a really thorough grilling, but at least this time I felt the inspector had done her homework (ie she had been through our sef, all 18 pages of it.......unlike the last inspector who hadn't even read it?). I must say this inspector's feedback told me that she had observed all staff very carefully, and although at times just appeared to be grilling me, she was also very aware of everything that was going on around her.

That's the thing - there was so much going on in the room the whole time and she missed the first hour then appears to have made sweeping statements on one or two things she observed but tarnished the whole provision based on those.

She didn't even challenge us on the SEF which obviously didn't match up with where we thought we were and where she placed us.

Hey ho, it's over til the next time!
