Oh we most certainly do - however given that following the "consultation / call for evidence / call it what you like" resulted in the government "not understanding" the cost of childcare they definitely won't have the wherewithal to "understand" what the IPPR says!!

I don't think "call me Dave" was the most studious of students! and as for Ms Morgan, don't think she's the sharpest tool in the box either.

Peers have accused the Government of rushing through its 30-hour free childcare pledge during the second reading of the Childcare Bill. During the debate in the House of Lords, concerns were raised about the lack of detailed information on how much the scheme would actually cost, as well as the definition of eligibility for working parents who would qualify for the extra hours.

lets not celebrate too quickly as the debate also said there is plenty of time to have the spending review and still be able to roll out in 2017. we have to hope now that the comprehensive spending review is exacgly that and does look at what funding needs to be in place if the scheme does go ahead.

Secretary of State for Education, Nicky Morgan, has announced the new average funding rate for the early years. The average hourly rate for free childcare for 3 and 4 year olds will be £4.88 including the EYPP, and for free 2 year old childcare will be £5.39. She also announced that a national early years funding formula review will also be conducted in 2016.

Earlier the Chancellor announced some changes to the 30 hours free childcare eligibility in the Spending Review. To be eligible parents needs to be working the equivalent of 16 hours per week per parent at the national minimum wage, and earning less than £100,000 per parent.
