Student Task List

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

September is coming and it means new students.

We have had some terrible ones in the past and some great ones.

But to cover the terrible ones, I thought maybe we should make a task list for them to complete during their time with us e.g. sit at the snack table, set up for lunch, read a group story, read with one child etc.

So it covers tasks for them to complete which may bring out their confidence and also initiative.

Can anyone help me add to this task list?

I think you need to be more specific (I've found that works better us anyway :1b )

We actually give them a 'timetable' to start with, saying what is expected of them on that particular day- with times slots.

This could include games/stories with a named group of children (the children you know will respond well :D:D ::1a )

We find this seems to sort the wheat from the chaff quite quickly - and you can spot the ones that follow the timings to the rule, and others that use their initiative and start deviating by following the child's conversations and developing an activity on etc.

After a few sessions we've usually worked out which students are going to need the extra support (for want of a better word) and they may continue to have a full timetable for each session with us.

We do however take into account any 'tasks' they may have from college - and fully encourage the more able to plan their own timetables with us.
