Many useful things don't have to be bought from a company for play equipment: DIY shops for guttering, planks and rope. Skips or builders for cable reels. Off-cuts of wood and logs from a timber company. Car boot sales and charity shops for pots, pans and large pieces of fabric.

Put a call out to parents for the type things wildflowers mentioned...you'd be amazed what they can come up with...we were given cable drums in diff sizes ( fab outdoor tables/seats), tyres, milk crates, logs, planks, gutter (half and tubed) and enough kitchen equipment to fill the kitchen section in tesco ....and if the parents couldn't supply things they knew someone that could :)

Get into your nearest B&Q, sign up to their charity giving..................they will give you all sorts of things free of charge. And yes, any garage will give you tyres, as they now have to pay to dispose of them, so you'e doing tem a favour by taking them away. A local farmer turned up at our setting a few months ago, with a huge tractor tyre. And, occasionally, if you ask nicely, the chaps who deliver your shopping will give you a delivery box Waitrose ones are FABULOUS ;)................and tesco gave us a dozen of them when they changed over from green ones to........err, green ones :)......................but basically, spread the word about what you're looking for and you'll be amaed at what you get. If you live in an area that has a parish magazine, then write an article for it......................try your local press too............................good luck
