My lea have said nothing, but indicated it will be worked on in the summer. I presumed that as this has to be rolled out from Sept this year we might have had a concrete plan in place. SueJ Posted April 3, 2015 Share Posted April 3, 2015 Nothing concrete here either - according to my LA early years team it is Health who are "at fault" for the delays in getting a "system" sorted - I still struggle to see how an integrated review is going to be possible for two year olds not in settings - and are we still meant to backtrack if an integrated review hasn't been done? As a pre-school most of the children starting with us do so when they get their funding in the term following their 3rd birthday but we get some starting as "rising 3s" starting in the term before their 3rd birthday some of these children are quite literally a couple of days off of turning 3 - these "rising 3s" all had their 2 year checks done by Health when they were 2 (in most cases within weeks of turning 2) - almost a year before we see them but currently we are still required to undertake a 2 year check when they come to us because they are still 2! 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

MegaMum Posted April 8, 2015 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Our LEA rolled out mandatory training on this. For us, it is meant to work like this... HV sends out a form for parent to fill in (this is american based) and asks parent to attend meeting to do check at 2.3 years. We would have our two year check done at same time for parents to take to HV when they go for the appointment. Obviously this will work for day nurseries, but the likes of pre-schools will struggle as we rarely get children bang on 24 months and then only a couple of days a week, so a bit tricker to write a report by 2.3 years. We are supposed to receive this review. The child is scored based on the answers the parents give and it is supposed to identify delays etc. I will try and find the form and upload it. It's buried in my bag with SEND training, Integrated Health Review training and EYPP training all of which I haven't fully digested yet! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Posted April 8, 2015 Share Posted April 8, 2015 I went to the DfE/NCB Learn, Explore and Debate event in Birmingham in March and the integrated review was discussed there. Basically, Local Authorities are to decide with their Health partners how best to manage it so yet again there will be inconsistencies across areas for parents and settings. From April this year, Health Visitors will be using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire with parents as a starting point for discussion about their child's development. The questionnaire is American in origin but has been adapted so the language is relevant for the UK. At the moment there isn't a section on Social and Emotional development :rolleyes: but this will be added at a later stage, probably April next year. It seems the main aim of the Ages and Stages Questionnaire is to produce a "population measure" which is why there are such strict guidelines on Health Visitors timings as they need to get the figures returned. Answer is no - I say to HV 'oh, in that case we can co-ordinate our to fit in with yours' HV- looks at me and says......' what? you do a 2 year check- ohw that sounds interesting- any reason why you do it?' Social worker joins in, asking what/why we do it. :blink: Me.... 'Erh- 'cos it's a legal requirement?' :huh: To be fair though - I think the HV may have had a light-bulb moment about some 'memo' she may have read - because after the meeting she called me to one side and asked a few questions, then offered to send me copies of some of the things they use. :1b 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest Posted August 20, 2015 Share Posted August 20, 2015 I've been filling in the 2 year progress checks for the last couple of years now since they were introduced. But the parents rarely give them to our HV, the parents don't fill in their section and the HV don't know what to do with them anyway! Wondering why I bother, but if we don't do them then it's on our heads! Derbyshire haven't come to me with any new information with what I'm supposed to do with this new integrated thingy! lashes2508 Posted August 21, 2015 Share Posted August 21, 2015 I spoke withHV ages and ages ago initially about this but nothing came of it , then spoke again with another HV at child in need meeting and then she left , spoke again with another HV and she said they were only interested in children they had difficulty getting access to , the nursery nurse form Health conducts the 2 yr old checks in our area not the HV , to be honest I wonder if this will ever happen despite our best efforts, we just do ours and ask for copies of ones the HV / Nn has done but they hold very little useful info sadly. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you ring to ask for a 2 year check in our area you are asked if it is a vulnerable child and then when told no, they will say we dont do them now.
