twinthinguk Posted November 22, 2014 Share Posted November 22, 2014 We have a new child staring in our setting, their home language is Tamil, I have searched but not found any appropriate images that I can use for adding the word welcome in Tamil to our poster of other languages, I have asked parents to write down some key phrases but they were adamant that they only wanted him to speak English, I did try to explain that we want to acknowledge his home language as its important to support both that and his English, but I am not entirely sure they understood me! lol I also asked what religion if any they practice, they did not understand the question so I will try again, having researched the area they originate from it says that the population are 80% Hindu and then the rest are from a variety of religions, so I will try that conversation again next week any links would be appreciated.
