Hey

We are a small setting and are currently fully staffed, we will have an opening for a deputy soon as im leaving and my manager wants to employ a deputy/teacher, but he/she will have to be based in toddler room as thats where i am at.

Would that be okay or does the teacher have to be in preschool from september?

we are really confused! thanks

Hi there.

You can put your QTS wherever you find suitable. There is no rule that they have to be in pre school.

However, you might find that a teacher doesnt have experience of working with toddlers and so may not be best suited to lead the room. It would all depend on the qualities of the pperson you recruit. Is it possible to do a staff shuffle if needed?.

Hello,

I think it would be an idea to advertise for an EYT. As obtaining the Early Years Teacher status would mean they have in depth child development knowledge and experience of working with children aged 0-5, plus knowledge of Key Stage 1 and 2.

I also agree with Lunar this might be a good time to make changes and place your new deputy where best suited.

Good luck with your search.
