we always do hand prints with a shaking of glitter (that falls off everywhere lol) the children choose the colour they want and paint their own hand/hands - we do help them when putting it onto the calendar to ensure a print is made but would like a new idea if there is one x

We just start 'collecting' and interesting painting drawings as soon as we start back in September. For our new starters we always try and keep one of their first painting they do with us.

All calendars are different - and include printing, collage (if flat enough to go through laminator!) hand-prints, etc.

We have often framed a photo of the child, the children decorate the frame/border.

Use a hole punch to thread a ribbon.

They also paint or print wrapping paper then wrap them using ribbon.

These are then given to their parents as a Christmas gift.

we take a photo of each child reading with some nice green/red fabric for a backdrop. we mount it on their choice of card then children decorate with jewels or sequins. lots of counting and shape language - corner/side etc. and children stick a calendar tab on and hole punch for ribbon/thread ribbon etc

sewing - piece of binca to fit A5, glittery threads, needles with large eyes. Let each child choose up to three colours and sew away - nothing as fancy as cross-stitch, just up through a hole and down through any other hole - we fit it in with maths - talking about length of stitch and direction - up/down.

Then stick onto card (double - sided tape works best) and add calendar tab and hanging ribbon. Parents like it, children enjoy it and it isn't too Christmassy so doesn't look odd in June.

However, having read entries above may well be in for a change this year!!

We do the same as MaryWilliam, but provide beads, bells......anything that can be threaded............for the children to choose ( or not!) from.............they are very individual, always look lovely and are generally much admired

Ive done finger print animals & flowers before - they look quite nice and individual. Children make thumb & finger prints in paint then make them look like bees, butterflies, ladybirds, flowers. It is quite tricky and did need adult help but they are all different & use the children's ideas.

This year we are doing a photo with a frame for them to decorate however they choose - we will make lots of craft bits available.
