I do put all info into their daily books but don't know whether I should keep extra copies and also do you keep monitoring charts of being checked or just write down times they went down to when they wake up ? narnia Posted October 4, 2014 Share Posted October 4, 2014 we keep a personal care chart for all the children and started this because we had a parent who said her child hadn't been changed often enough. So, every change of nappy or pants and a box to say if it was wet or soiled and another box to say if we had to apply any cream etc. we also use it to say if we put a child on the toilet during toilet training. MegaMum Posted October 4, 2014 Share Posted October 4, 2014 I record EVERYTHING! Unfortunately, we are now a changed society and I protect myself and staff on every level. Having gone through unfounded complaints and experienced being out on a limb with no support, I now cover myself for everything. We are a morning pre-school, so don't have any children taking naps, but if they did the times etc. would be recorded and kept on file. All nappy changes are recorded daily. I have a file with tabs Monday - Friday. Each day the name of the child, time of change/s and whether they were wet or soiled is recorded with staff signature. I once had a parent accuse us of not changing a child, when in fact we had, so hence I created a file! Sad world that it has come to this. Also, if a child is potty training, I record this in the same file. For example, sat on toilet, did a wee. Sat on potty, but didn't do anything. All with time/signature. louby loo Posted October 5, 2014 Share Posted October 5, 2014 We do - but for the same reasons as Narnia and megmum. Ours is simply a grid/table A4 sheet on a clipboard. Name - time - (wet/soiled etc) -signed by staff. this is kept in the changing area. We're preschool - so just continue on one sheet until full then new sheet. Same sheet for nappies or toilet training. I keep them all until the end of that term then bin them. If so, I certainly don't keep charts and don't know any other childminders that do amongst those I have regular contact with. It's generally in a daily diary where this would be noted. We use a folder jot down date, time, who, poo/wee nappy/clothes and who changed. If any complaints can go straight to folder.
