Sounds like you had a much more helpful, sensible chat - shame that it couldn't have come a month sooner before everything escalated. I would take the new grading, it means you won't lose funding, and will improve morale across the board -you fought and you won a victory with the big O, and that's no small feat!

As regards the Committee for the building, I think you need to ask to have a conversation with the Chair and tell her of your concerns about something that has been brought to your attention, and give him/her the opportunity to discuss their points with you in a calm manner. You have your new grading to inform them of, a great point in your favour.

*get back/keep your free entitlement funding*

ooo good point there Pimms

Narnia - given the turnaround in their judgement offer, will this be enough for your LA to reinstate your funding if you decide to wait for re-inspection - especially if they offer it in writing? (so the LA can technically say they are meeting their requirements re settings gradings/placement of children)

yes, agree with Cait - this turnaround appears to be more or less unheard of in the world of Ofsted so it's a massssive victory in that sense (although not the one you were hoping for)

Well done narnia. I think I would take the new grading as that is a huge victory for you in itself. I wish you luck with the rest of your troubles and hope that will be another victory. Please don't ever stop posting, we all need to know how you are getting on. :D

Panders, did you just read the post above yours??????????????????????????

No, our posts crossed! But I have now, seems like you are making some impression on the Great 'O '. Outstanding would have been wonderful and a real public payback for all your hard work there's no denying that, however, I have always come from the camp that thinks good should be good enough ,I know that what we provide for the children is just right and two fingers to some inspector who pops in for a couple of hours and pronounces a judgement on their terms. Do I worry about Ofsted, of course I do - but I don't think parents pay as much attention to these reports as we might think - I have some parents who I almost have to frogmarch in to look the place over before they register because a friend told them we are a great place and they really trust their judgement - I value that more, particularly around here where competition is tough.

The outstanding judgement was for you and your team Narnia - Ofsted's agreement would just have been the cherry on top - you know you are outstanding in your practice. Go with the flow Narnia, accept the offer make your real views known to them - they are worried about setting a precedent here, still complain as high up as you can go and write something in your prospectus to counter O's claims and make sure on your website the true story is told.

Wow!

I am sure none of us actually expected that to happen, Narnia.

And it only did because of you and the fight you have put up.

We all know you are Outstanding and I don't think this would have happened if Ofsted didn't know it as well. They just aren't prepared to take that much of a hit.

Great post from Panders.:)

Think I might take the " Good " rating from Ofsted. You must know you have fought hard and it is a great victory on your part.

However you probably feel unjustly treated and this may well last for a time.( you really have had a belly full).

Think of all those lovely children and families you provide for on a hourly, daily, weekly basis, they are the true reflection of what you are.

As for the premises, I think i would suggest a meeting to discuss the security fencing, and maybe some ideas to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

Could you do a fundraiser in the setting to help with this.

Are then any small pockets of funding available to help.

I am so wishing you well Narnia, you sound like such a lovely person. Fx

Well done Narnia for getting some sort of turn around from Ofsted - I would take the Good and say thank you - I sit in the same camp as Panders in respect of the Good judgement - after all if you get outstanding and the next inspector comes along and gives you a good - their opinions being so subjective and all - it looks a bit bad - better to be a consistent good and know yourselves that you are brilliant :D

Wow Narnia I am so impressed as I would have given up long ago so well done for your persistence. I have never heard of such a turn around either. You haven't been at all boring either and I am sure others have followed this as closely and with as much interest as I have and we have been egging to on all the way.

I hope you can now recover from this horrible experience. I think a large glass of wine and a box of chocolates should be on the agenda for tonight. You should be so proud of yourself. Time to take the committee on next week eh. Keep us informed - surely they will capitulate sooner than Ofsted with you on the case. I am cheering you on.

I have just had a fun size pack of jelly beans . whooopppeeeeeeee, life just doesn't get any better :)

Oh you really do know how to push the boat out!!!

Congraulations to you for your persistance....Look up good in the Oxford dictionary.....I quote

"to be desired or approved of"

"having the required qualities: of a high standard"

"possessing or displaying moral virtue"

"giving pleasure; enjoyable or satisfying"

This is what parents will read into good.... ie good is indeed more than good enough!!!! However, you and only you can decide, and this forum is definately on your side whatever you decide to do.

Very best wishes xxxxx

I'd take the good too. I actually don't care what Ofsted say, their judgements are based on a few hours, our families know the true 'us'.

Accept the judgement but tell them in order to prevent being evicted you need a definitive answer on the height of the fence. Hope you get it sorted with your hall committee :)
