  • 1 month later...

I just started mine with the OU, had my first tutorial yesterday, I had to get a head start with course work as this month is stupidly busy at work so I have worked though all the activities and am now attempting chunks of the first TMA. I am really enjoying it at the moment but I may well take that statement back when I am sweating over and essay lol

Hi Twinthinguk,

Thought I was on my own here!

Where was your tutorial? Mine was in birmingham and only 6 out of a possible 21 turned up.

Have just finished my first TMA but am struggling to submit.. techy stuff my downfall!

Will be nice to follow your progress and we could maybe pick each others brains if we need to :-)

my tutorials are in Crawley West Sussex, went to my second one yesterday and had already written my tma, i have submitted it today, i find the whole academic writing a challenge but luckily I have a few people who are used to it and can proof read my work. I have to confess the referencing is causing me some headaches lol and I am trying to keep a couple of weeks ahead of the study because I have a fair amount of training and other Good luck with the Techy stuff, hope we don't have to wait to long for results.

Hi again, just got my first marked TMA back, got marked 60? its a pass but not sure how the mark rates though, but very glad its a pass :-) hope yours has gone ok too. Ive just started looking at TMA2. Only problem Im having is sticking just to their resources the way youre suppossed to, finding info elsewhere and trying to tie it in with theirs when referencing!

not had mine back yet as our tutor is on holiday in the USA, as far as I know 60 is a good pass and its 10% towards your final score. I have had a look at the 2nd tma, we have been warned not to use other books as research as it does not prove you have used the course materials and someone was trying to use a level 3 text book, which was not " robust" enough academically! the whole area of referencing has me baffled but I have loads of info on how to do it, the tutor is very helpful so I am glad that I don't feel to thick lol

I had a quick look at the TMA questions and have done study topic 3 and 4, hope to start the next one this week end.

Yes, the only other materials you can evidence are the EYFS and other documents like that. If you can get the course materials as a PDF it makes searching for particular things to reference in the text a lot simpler.

HI

I did my FDEC, and then my BA, through the OU and loved every minute.

Try not to get behind with the reading and work, easier said than done I know, but it will help minimise the stress later!!!

60 is a very good mark by the way.

waaa hoooo I passed with 70 and a couple of pointers, apparently I need to have a more questioning approach ( not sure what that means lol) and my references were rather wonky, but very pleased! now on to tma 2 which is a proper essay which I find rather scarey as I have never written one before!
