Characteristics of learning

Hi All,

Loving this forum, great ideas on all aspects of learning. I would just like to ask how are settings recording the characteristics of learning of each child? We are always trying to find effective ways of recording progress of our children and find there is still so much paperwork to fill in. We are a pack away setting and doing anything on line is not possible for us, so a paper format is the only way for us. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks

Pre Tapestry I used to record the CoEL in the observations by writing something like 'Andrew demonstrated his Active a Learning by staying focused on this activity for a considerable time. He was not easily distracted and he kept on trying, even when the wheel came off his car'.

We a pack away , on back of our well being and involvement sheets ( you could use an ob form)

I have copied the COEL staff then highlight those that apply, it is kept in the children's learning journal, so takes up any extra space.

We use a sticky dot system in their folders. We use a different colour sticky dot for each characteristic and stick the ones that are cover by the observation onto it when we stick it in their folder.

We also track them on their longer focused observations too.
