Panders Posted July 18, 2014 Share Posted July 18, 2014 Sorry to those who are full time nurseries, but this day has been anticipated for a week or more this time round. The children have been quite sensitive and tearful, which we put down to the very hot weather and perhaps lack of sleep. Thank heavens we weren't doing any type of show I dread to think how they would have coped. We had a simple leavers celebration and snack was some party food. We had a lovely picnic - was hard to find some shade but we did! :1b Spent some time this morning sorting out various folders and the filing cabinet and compiled the dreaded 'summer to do list' - so I have a list but I won't be 'doing' any of it for a few weeks! :rolleyes: Ref Cait - she isn't 'completely retiring' - she is going back for at least part of the autumn term - sure she will be along sometime soon to enlighten us all :1b Happy hols everyone! :1b 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But what a lovely idea to have something just for them - will nick that idea for next year as I always feel they are a little left out and bemused by the goings on of the "leavers". Think we are going to have a very slim autumn term numbers are very low for us, but so many left today it will take a while to build up again, lots a competition in my area for the nappy pound! Yes do it! This is our second year this method and it works really well. We can do things with just the older group and visa versa the younger. After last years success, we altered our christmas party too- the older group come in earlier sing a few songs to parents then have an an entertainer suited to their age group, then the younger ones come in for a more general "party' with lots of games dancing etc. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
beth1 Posted July 18, 2014 Share Posted July 18, 2014 I've finally finished too. Just completed a 5th year at the same school and in year 1. Didn't find a new job for the 4th year running. So it's back to year 1 for a 6th year, yep you read that right. Must be mad or more like my hours are only for that year group. No real summer to do list. May look at volunteering at a different school to gain experience (and maybe a way to move on), as teacher training interview suggest I look at different school systems. Guest sn0wdr0p Posted July 18, 2014 Share Posted July 18, 2014 What a day from hell in both the nursery and out of school club! Behaviour appaling. Our biter bit. Our screamers screamed. Our fussy eaters fussed and starved. So glad that the last child went early at 5.50pm. I really hope they have all calmed down for Monday. We had a new staff member start today -she must have wondered what on earth she had let herself in for. Really jealous of those of you who have time off. The six week holiday is our busiest time but also our best time as we have loads of trips and outings and I get to do them all as only I can drive the minibus. Guest sn0wdr0p Posted July 18, 2014 Share Posted July 18, 2014 Wasn't all bad. Two new babies signed up which means our baby room is filling up and a parent who owed me 3 months fees finally paid up. Was pretty peed off when I heard she told a staff member I was really mean because I was pushing for payment!!! Just had a really ready chin wobbling, wet tissue sob over Long Lost Family which I recorded - husband and 3 sons soon cleared out the room after laughing at me. Feeling great now. I have been gardening, reading, gardening, reading....... Today - feel I must turn my attention to some housework :blink: no really I must So far I have uncovered my dining room table - please don't be impressed - that actually translates to - I have put things in piles and just moved elsewhere Washing is out and I am about to start the ironing that I have been avoiding for days! :rolleyes: or should I just go back to gardening, reading, gardening.........no get on with it now!!! I retired as Manager last Friday, got a lovely engraved vase and flowers and loads of cards and gifts. I'm back in next year on Tuesday and Thursday mornings till Christmas to help with ratio as they are so busy, and to do some admin. Then from Christmas to Easter, just going in on Tuesday mornings, then that's it. Then I negotiated the maze of boxes in my dining room that is my new kitchen (it's now reached the 'I'm excited' point instead of the 'oh my goodness what have I done?!' point!) then I went in to school where ?I spent 3 hours emptying, sorting, cleaning and re-organising the cupboards in the staff room! No one else except my head teacher will notice or care but it makes me feel SO much better to know things are tidy inside. Then round to mum and dads for lunch before helping mum with the cleaning before taking them out for a walk at a local country park. I saw two of my loveliest children with their families. They did that disbelieving 'teachers don't really exist out of school' look and wouldn't speak to me! Then I fell asleep on the sofa and am settling down for a relaxed evening with chocolates! We had one of those fabulous working relationships where we just knew what the other would do etc And it also involved saying goodbye to eighteen of our school leavers and their families who are mostly a wonderful bunch. Tuesday morning saw me cleaning out two sheds, today shed number three was done and the sand kitchen and quite a bit of playground sweeping!! Tomorrow involves more sweeping and weeding to complete the outside area. Saturday will be a good clean inside, furniture moving and new labels on everything. I know what you mean, I had a long standing deputy leave 4 years ago and we had had a great relationship similar to the one you describe I think. My latest deputy has just left after 4 years - life was different but it in many ways it did me good! You will find your way, as you must, just give yourself some time. SueJ Posted July 24, 2014 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Well - as we have shut for the holidays I can now catch up on paperwork which I can do early in the morning whilst suitably attired in my nightshirt I have "treated" myself to a bike - not having cycled for nigh on 30 years so today I have cycled (pushed bike up hills) to the beach where I have lounged, swum, played frisbee, read trashy novel and generally lazed around. Unfortunately having cycled there I then had to cycle back - much more pushing of bike on the return journey.
