(does not take much to please me !l I spent all Sunday Lamenting pictures /posters that would look great outside. SO Monday i set outside out with posters , looks fantastic then !!!!! They fall down grrrrrr .I have used electric tape , double sided tape and the white tape but after a while it falls down!!!! We have to pack away every day so they can not be permently fixed as our playground is the church car park !!! Guest Posted May 2, 2014 Share Posted May 2, 2014 would they be willing to fasten a batten to the wall for you so you can then screw hooks or a broom shank to it to hang things off? - we've done this to a few of our walls, inside and out - then pins can be used or those lovely 'S' butchers hooks from the ikea kitchen department If they screw through the mortar rather than the brick itself, it can be patched up when permanently removed if you were ever to leave the setting Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Posted May 2, 2014 Share Posted May 2, 2014 failing that...masonry nails (they have a fine thread on them) can be hammered a little way in to the mortar (if you are allowed!) - they are cheap in B&Q/Wilkinsons Happy new laminator by the way! are you finding you are looking around for things to laminate! DebbieW Posted May 2, 2014 Share Posted May 2, 2014 (edited) A washing line.?...we peg our posters up on a fairly long line but have used discreet nails at each end of the line....the village hall haven't noticed them yet!!! We also use large branches that were cut down from trees around the perimeter of the hall, we paint them and put them in pots and peg say letters and numbers etc....to these branches...looks quite attractive!... Just bought my stash of posters home to laminate over the bank holiday. Have managed to put a garden ( in some tubs) and a log + tadpoles in a corner and so far they have not commented :-) . Going to get the silver tape when i next go to £1 shop see if that works ! Yes !!!!! wish i had brought the bigger one now as some of the posters are bigger than A4 . It can start getting expensive too as the pouches are not cheap ! The posters that i have done so far look great and really brighten the outside up and the children seem to have enjoyed looking at them and help the posters to fall down !!!!!!!! (little darlings ) . What kind of paint do you use to paint the branches? this sounds like a lovely idea im guessing these are large branches ? i can already hear our health and safety lady !!!!!! she was not impressed when i used garden canes in our little garden area :rolleyes: . Scarlettangel Posted May 3, 2014 Share Posted May 3, 2014 We had battens stuck to the masonry with that no nails stuff. Of course they don't come off so perhaps discreet ones would be necessary. We have them top and bottom so we can attach strips of ribbon (the stuff florists use around bouquets) which gave things to display stapled to them! finleysmaid Posted May 3, 2014 Share Posted May 3, 2014 have you got trees? the reason i ask is that cosy do acetate circles that you can sandwich things between so you could hang these from anything that you have available . I tend to use masking tape on the wall as this seems to be the only thing that works....but it will only hold small bits of paper and tends to look rather messy! of course if the bricks are damp then nothing really sticks and our wall is really old so i have to be careful hammering stuff in to it! 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We filled the buckets with the cement and stuck the broom handle into it to form a post. We then hung a washing line between two of them. Later someone else did a similar thing but fixed a hollow tube into the cement. Once it was all dry she then put the broom handle into the tube so she could take the broom handle out which meant she could pack it away into a smaller space. (She did sometimes have to stop children taking them out and running around with them though!!!) Old fashioned clothes airer too may be pulled out and folded away.How about wide elastic stretched across the wall ( you would need to attach it at each end) and then bambi staple on to it? Also how did you securely fix them into pots ? We just use poster paints...it washes off over time but then the children enjoy painting these so much it doesn't matter. We put them in dirt....with some pebbles at the bottom to weigh it all down....We bring these indoors sometimes to display children's work and put fairy lights on them. Now just need to find some pots and away to secure them thats my weekend sorted !!!!!!!!! After many weeks off posters falling down and not staying on wall we came up with these ideas and so far so good .. We used some plastic poles which were supposed to make a den but they kept coming apart!!! we also used Gazebo weights (£20 for 4) with some play horses stuck in them !!!!!!!!! but guess a broom handle would do the same . Lucky for us on top of wall is some trellis i tied pieces of string to it and at the other end tied around plastic poles. Stuck Velcro on poles and posters and ta da !!! easy to put up easy to put away. . Just dont tell the Neighbor!!!!!!!!!!!
