EY2 OR NOT!

Am I being dim?

Our new committee duly filled in their EY2 forms which I posted to Ofsted. They were returned with a letter explaining Ofsted no longer handle hard copies of the EY2. None of them have managed to do them online so I thought I'd take a look at it. This is as close as I can get. http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/early-years-and-childcare/become-childcare-provider-or-childminder/register-provide-childcare-non-domestic-premises I can't find EY2 on their site either, is it saying they don't need to do anything??!

No your definetly not being dim. But I can't find them either. I have just recently completed 6 EY2 forms for committee members and then the DBS forms needed too, so I'm not really sure why they have said that. Will keep looking and let you know.

Why do they make it so very difficult .:(

They will need to go to https://onlineofsted.gov.uk/OnlineOfsted/default.aspx

They will need to set up a government gateway account if they do not already have one (bottom right of screen). Our committee members then select Early Years Register Application which takes you to the form and begins the process.

hope this helps.

scrolling through these I thought 'I don't remember posting' ......weird how the brain reads what it thinks it should be and not what it actually says :\

smou63 a new user with one post replied above... so you are not losing it- seems it was not you ... now as to being able to read the user names correctly.. that is another issue...

as to the rest... online only, set up a gateway account, etc.. hardly inclusive is it... what about the non computer savvy parents.. we often had grandparents stand on committee with no computer skills at all.. they had the time .. and were usually very good for the setting.. those with english as a second language.. it excludes so many form actually being able to complete them.. particularly in a setting where they cannot help with no internet on site to talk them through the process..

really gets me irate that they assume that everyone is able to do things online and no alternative.. I can see thier reasoning.. but it still strikes me as being a bit discriminatory against many..

time to retreat... before I find hundreds of reasons someone cannot do it online...

'it excludes so many form actually being able to complete them.. particularly in a setting where they cannot help with no internet on site to talk them through the process.. '

What happened to their 'inclusion' ?

Has this been a recent change ? We only did paper ones a few months ago, did anyone tell us ?

Well yet again it would have been nice, polite, good practice, for us to be informed, especially as we have to inform them of everything.

But hey ho, only just did 6 myself all through the paper method.

If it wasn't for the beautiful children and families think I might just throw in the towel, the bureaucracy stinks.:)

Totally agree Fredbear, it would have taken seconds to send us all an email, if all it said was 'you need to be aware of changes to.....', they must think we all have so little to do that we sit at working thinking 'I know I'll check out the ofsted page just in case they've made changes' :/

For goodness sake!!! I have just sent off two this week. Honestly as someone has said it really would at the very least be good manners to inform.

This is going to cause even more problems and delay in getting committee members. Just think if we told our Ofsted inspector that the only way we gave out notices/paperwork to parents was via internet - can you imagine what they would say!

I've tweeted asking if the gateway registration is for the setting or the individuals, I'll get back to you as soon as they reply. Hopefully the setting can do it, make it easier on a couple of parents who aren't do good on internet

As nominated person my gateway account allows me to do EY2 forms online - I go through this with the person (only takes 10 minutes tops!), submit it, and then get an email when the person has been added. They will then get a letter containing their gateway security token to then login to ofsted to change their details, and the reference for capita to do the DBS.

Takes about 3-4 weeks all in from EY2 to receiving the certificate.

I can also remove members from the setting through my account removing the need for the EY3(?) form.

  • 2 weeks later...

As the nominatederson I have done it the same way as cvdbout .... I have had one just come back saying the committee member needs to do it through her own gateway, however the other five went through fine.

I also had the same problem. I had 5 new committee members join in March. I printed off the EY2 (as no where on the site did it state that the form had to be filled in on line) as I thought I was helping the new secretary. All the new committee members filled them in and then the new secretary sent them off.

We then received a letter informing us that they had to be done on line. I arranged a committee meeting provided 5 lap tops and all the new committee members filled them in on line.

The Chairperson then received a letter from Ofsted informing us that the nursery was not registered with them, as when we had to change our charity number Ofsted said they were not informed and they cancelled our registration! Unfortunately, the chairty number was changed over 2 years ago and the then secretary has left, but we are sure she would have informed them but, the Chairperson is looking for proof sieving through files at the moment.

Ofsted have now sent us a form out EY0 (I think) to fill in. This asks for operating times, staff details, when first opened etc.

My chairperson who is also new since March of this year has explained that we are due an inspection very soon and will this cause problems. Ofsted have informed her that it wouldn't as long as they are kept in the loop and the committee once again fill in the EY2 on line.

Has anything like this happened to anyone else regarding the change of charity number? I do wonder if this will effect our inspection too! It has been a very stressful 3 weeks.

Now there's a question. Both I think. I've found the link for the gateway but what do you do from there?

I think I've understood that each individual committee member needs their own log in for the gateway.

Does this then trigger a dbs?

you do not need a gateway account ...this is just the path for trustees/committee etc NOT staff

Guest youngrisers

Wonder if the Preschool Learning Alliance have any links on their website as a lot of preschools are members to them and may be experiencing difficulty. Many parent committee groups are struggling to find members perhaps this is secret ploy to get rid of so many so Schools can take over the preschools????

Where does it tell committee members that they need to complete ey2, mine are now receiving their dbs certificates and an email link to complete step 4 which is the update service (free) but no mention of needing ey2 ?

i have NO idea ...i have also managed to do to step 4 but i was assuming that the ey2 might come from ofsted........haven't seen any sign of it yet!
