Gluten free birthday cake in the oven. HOW can my daughter be 30 tomorrow! How is that even possible! Honestly, you turn your back for a minute and a woman is standing where my child stood!

Cait - it's my niece's 2nd birthday tomorrow and even though she's only 2 I'm having a similar reaction to you. Her brother's 6th birthday a couple of weeks ago was even worse! Enjoy the celebrations and happy birthday to her.

I have got a couple more plans done and made a powerpoint presentation about the history of road transport for my Y1 history lessons when we get back - yep, that's what my girls wanted to learn about. I was pleased because it means we can make carriages with moving wheels for our DT project! I'm tempted to do Cinderella for our traditional tale in English just to tie the carriage in!

Despite the weather forecast we have enjoyed a lovely sunny day here in the south too B)

Yet another birthday to celebrate - my Dad this time - I shall have to go back to work to detox and dry out at this rate

Just doing a final sync between laptops so that all that work done at home during the "holidays" is backed up ready for tomorrow!

Well, I got carried away with what was meant to be a quick clean of the living room and ended up sorting out and cleaning all my CDs and re-homing some unsuspecting spiders. Kitchen floor has been scrubbed (won't admit to the resulting colour of the water!) I'm now sat enjoying the pleasure that is finding the leftover marzipan (from making simnel cake) and eating it!

I'm rather afraid life got the better of me this holiday..................we were working through, and we

did manage to get our shed sorted out on a couple of quiet days, but as for paperwork, I'm afraid I just couldn't rouse myself, so lord help me if we get the knock this term :(

As to age of our children?......................my oldest will be 43 ( yes, that's correct) this year and my oldest grandchild turned 18 last month. Feeling old, anyone???

With you on the 'life got in the way.... I've done hardly any paperwork this holiday - both myself and husband had some kind of virus, so not much work done + the cat told me I needed to rest too !!!! :) :) :) hoping that we don't get the knock either :( xxxx

Obviously you had your first aged 11. :):) :) ..... Mine's just turned 30 too - I had her when I was 10 :)) xoxoxo

Well back to work tomorrow, have just started to relax!! Why oh why does it take me one and a half weeks to chill out and stop twitching. Am now really in holiday mode. Five years now since our last 'knock on the door' what's the betting they arrive on my birthday on Wednesday!! (Great way to celebrate) Am quite pleased with what I have achieved in the holiday but still feel like I am playing catch up all the time, even though I am an organised person.

To everyone who is back tomorrow, have a great day :D

Well I have just made (and tasted!) my first ever bagels - very yummy and am now making my first ever creme patissiere so that I can make some miniature boston cream pies - also a first! I do love baking and it's perfect for a cold, wet, grey day like today! There's lots - anyone want to come and sample?

So it's the last day of the holidays and I wake up at 6.10 and get up shortly after - how come I can do that today but tomorrow it will be so much harder! Today I mainly have to go food shopping so that I eat properly for at least one week and continue my sorting out the dining room mission. Might get some sewing done but to be honest I'm quite enjoying the sorting/throwing out/shredding/recycling of the paper mountain I have!

I did 'streamline' my unread books this morning as I'd realised I was rapidly heading towards constructing a maze out of piles of books in my living room and while that's a good excuse not to hoover it was getting a little ridiculous. There are now 35 unread books on my mantelpiece - please don't let me buy any more until I've read them!

Oooh 35 unread books - exciting - well if they're not work related that is

Seems funny that you are going back tomorrow when I've already 'done' four days - have to say I think I would have preferred a later start to the holiday - felt so odd going back the day after Easter Monday - anyway good luck with your first day back! :1b

They're not work related but some of them have been unread for a very long time! I do like having a bit more time after Easter but the last week of last term nearly finished me off and it does seem ridiculous to be back at school for only 4 weeks (and one of those has a bank holiday Monday) before being off again.

OK, am off to make spaghetti bolognese and berry crumble for tea.

Just finished granddaughters sleepover room, her dad's old bedroom, it does look really sweet, (should have had girls, she mutters) she came up to take a look and was more excited by the fact that the step ladder was still up from where I had hung the new curtains! She now wants a step ladder for her third birthday in a couple of weeks' time because "I'm as tall as you Nannie, and I can see over the trees! Just get her the binoculars now and she can spy on all the neighbours

Bank Holiday weekend - seems bizarre to me - back to work for all of five minutes and now we have a long weekend - still I'm not complaining! :1b

So - I am showing off now - no 'to do' list for me - I am planning on some family time - my beautiful granddaughters are staying with us through Saturday and overnight - lovely - my dear old mum is coming for dinner on Sunday - equally lovely......

Monday is my day for - me, me, me!!! xDxDxD

Have a lovely weekend whatever you're doing and not too much work - that's an order! :1b

Well just having finished sleepover bedroom for my darling granddaughter, and having already bought two, yes two quilt covers because they were sooooooo pretty, I see a patchwork effect bedspread in a local children's bedroom shop as I was driving by. Had to go and take a look and fell i love with it, but decided no, didn't really need it. Before leaving for home I walked through BhS would you believe extremely similar quilt, this time said "yes", instead of costing £95. as it would have in the first shop, it cost £36 - lowered in price by Bhs from £95 to £45 and then 20percent off today!!! Couldn't say no to that. Don't ever need to buy any more bedding for that room!

This Bank Holiday, I will just be having a little play in the room setting it up with little bits, have decoupaged an 'R' and painted some furniture etc. I'm having fun, and very minimal pre-school stuff to do.
