Boys just love Tom and the dinosuars by Ian Beck.
Adventure stories for reception - that's quite a challenge! All I can think of is the "This is the Bear.." stories by Sarah Hayes - when he goes to the rubbish tip and gets left in the park, etc. - well, it's an adventure for a bear! 
How about some of the oxford reading tree adventure stories - Magic Key etc?
Or the Lighthouse Keepers Cat is a good story. Hamish the cat goes on an adventure.
