Hi All I am starting a new job in September as a nursery nurse in a school nursery which I am very excited about. I have worked in early years settings but mainly management roles so I was wondering what you fellow nursery nurses consider the role of the nursery nurse in free play and what you would like a new worker to do or not do.
I did go in the nursery for a day but got very little(none) instruction which I found quite hard as I did not know what was expected of me or the children.
I want to make a good impression but I am having a few wobbles.
Thank you for any advice wink.gif

Hi Irismarie

Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on making your first post (and your new job!).

I think it is natural to have a few wobbles when starting a new job! I don't work in a school so I can't help you very much, however there are lots of very knowledgeable teachers on here who I am sure will have ideas about what they would like their ideal nursery nurse to be like! I'm sure they'll be long soon (although some are possibly still at work this week).

In the meantime have a good look around the Forum and see what you can find - its a mine of incredibly useful information!
