Hi,
I am just about finfished my optional assignement for DPP. But the final question states 'evaluate the concept of a social model of disability' within the guidance it states include the disadvantegas and advantages of social model.

I have loads of advantages but I cannot think of any disadvantages. If anybody has any ideas I would be eternally grateful smile.gif

The only thing I can think of and I'm not happy with it myself, is that in the social model there could possibly be a chance that the medical needs of the child could be overlooked. I'm thinking that if the needs of the child are looked into under the social model, these might be met but that it might not allow for a more medical model of investigation and identification of disease to be followed. This could mean that a child might not get a diagnosis which could lead in turn to a treatment and relief of the condition.

Does that make sense? Like I say I'm not happy with it myself but ....
