We are currently getting support from our local early years team to improve our FS provision. Up to now we have relied on post-it observations but its been suggested that we do some longer observations on individuals. Just wondered if anyone had any pro formas that they would be willing to share? Thanks in advance!

We have just developed this one - literally just too as we haven't used it before! It is cobbled together from all sorts of sources but you are welcome to adapt it if it looks useful to you. This is only a pdf copy as I don't have the original on this machine.

We use one from the cd which came with all the EYFS stuff

Hi Holly,

I like your observation sheet, especially including the boxes Unique child etc. I'm going away to see if I can put them on my obs sheet somewhere. The head is always telling me I have too many boxes - but I like boxes, and want to make sure I have everything covered!

Hi Holly, Thanks for sharing your observation sheet. What a great idea usiing the enabling environments etc. Upto now We have just used a blank sheet or a basic form. I will share the form with staff at our next meeting. Thanks again

If you mean changing your user name, just PM Steve or Sue and they'll do it for you.

You can also log in as 'anonymous' so that no-one knows you're here - just tick the box when you log in. smile.gif

Hello, I have recently been on a course and have used the specialists advice to create a learning story, observation sheets and a summary of observations. The learning story is to be done on each child each half term, as is a summary. and the observation sheets are like post its (where and when you see the children doing something special)
Just thought I'd add them to share

We do approximately 2 x 10 minute observations of each child per term. These take place during their focus week.

It is a narrative so states purely what is seen. e.g. C is at water tray, she pours water through a funnel into a bottle, she continues this until the bottle is full. C> 'It's full up now'. We take a photo and stick it on.

I find the narratives extremely informative and a great way of finding evidence for the ELGs, particularly in LCT, KUW and CD.
