Has anyone any experience of using Boardmake in mainstream school? I was thinking of buying it and using it for a wide range of children and wondered if it would be beneficial for lot of children in our school - we are infants plus nursery and have a lot of children with communication difficulties and also quite a few children with EAL. What do you think?

I think its fiddly and expensive from what Ive heard but let us know how you get on, please.

I love Boardmaker and have used it for years for a number of children. There are some limitations as there is not every word/picture that you want to use.

I haven't used it with children, just making symbls and visula time tables etc.

We use boardmaker all the time at our nursery school, it's brilliant it can be used to make time tables label areas, used as prompts to move children on, to give children choices on a choice board which is great when they may not be able to communicate this clearly themselves. you can create your own symbols and add pictures to it, for labels and name cards.
it is by far one of the best resources you just need to set aside some time to fiddle with it or ask your local authority for training

We use Communicate in Print and on the same lines as boardmaker and yes you would find it useful.All of your children can benefit from it.
