Would a teacher in a school based Nursery need to do the EYPS if her PGCE was in a middle school or is it dependent upon which degree she did?

S
Marion
No. in fact a maintained school based teacher would be unable to qualify for EYPS
Sharon
Will she need to do any other training? Her degree is I think Science based and PGCE was in Middle school and is teaching in our Nursery.
Marion
No she doesn't need any other qualification other than QTS but schools may be reluctant to employ someone without EY experience
Sharon
Even if she works in the nursery?

I thought that by 2012 the qualification review stated everyone had to have a full and relevent qualification, I know the school staff working within the EYFS were okay with their QYS but I thought it was different for Nursery??

Marion
QTS is a full and relevant qualification for any maintained setting
Sharon
Thank you Marion you really are a font of all knowledge!
