Hi all - I'm confused (doesn't take much! laugh.gif )

At the beginning of term we were given a fantastic set of 'wild' animals - the children became very interested in them very quickly - so in best EYFS style we have built on this interest! smile.gif

We have read stories, cut out animal pictures, frozen wild animals in ice for the water tray, unearthed our wildlife stencils, built zoo enclosures with our blocks and we have made a 3D Jungle scene - this is especially cool! smile.gif

So now I have told you how 'wonderful' we are! wink.gif

My question is..........I downloaded a 'Jungle Word Mat' from sparklebox yesterday and there is (amongst other things) a panda on it unsure.gif surely pandas don't live in jungles........do they?
Panders
I suppose they could do - they eat bamboo shoots don't they, perhaps they are in the more jungle like areas of China, sorry Sunnyday no use to you whatsoever!!!

Panda facts gives their habitat as forests which while a cold, damp coniferous forest for the bamboo to grow and on mountain ranges from 4,000 to 11,000 feet high could very loosely be described as a jungle... could the term be used to cover a dense forest?

national geographic have some lovely pics and info..

Panda bear is also an interesting place to look

Thank you Inge - I will look at that now!

Just popped back to say - hmmm.......'bamboo forests'.........I'm not convinced that Sparlebox should really have them on a 'Jungle Word Mat' alongside monkeys, tigers, parrots, snakes etc.etc.

Awwww they really are cute, aren't they (although probably not close up!)

How about some panda face painting, sunnyday, that would be fun!

Sunnyday have you had the Discovery Bus visit you? This is run by KCC, it is free, it's a big bus converted into a jungle inside at the moment. The children go on board and there are jungly things to do, and have their photographs taken with an orangutan (obviously not a real one) which is printed off on board for the children to take with them, they can make badges, and dress up etc. Will send you details if you are interested

Oh yes please - sounds fantastic! smile.gif
