Hi

I currenty teach in the Foundation Stage and would like to be an Early Years C0-ordinator at some point. I'd also really like to do an MA. Can anyone suggest an MA relevant to teaching/managing in the Early Years?

Thanks

Hmmmm, either I'm missing something or you've left me a blank message lol! Lyeska, did you mean to write something or did you hit reply by mistake? :)

Hi jellyhead, I seem to have missed this one. I dont where you are located but many universities do some sort of modular style MA or MEd, some even by distance. I presume that you are looking to work at this part time over a number of years, wheras i was lucky enough to get sponsorship to do mine full time. Then there is always the Open University as well. I think the modular route gives much more flexibility and an opportunity to study a whole range of things including some not necesssairy related to early years if you wish. A pure resarch MA I think is really tough going if you are working as well.

Also check out you LEA with regard to funding, mine certainly pays half the cost of fees and some LEAs may well pay more than that.

Sorry, I don't even remember reading your posting so I'm not quite sure what has happened, though I'm not very good at this so it could easily be an error on my part.
I can say I have read elsewhere that Sheffield do a distance learning MA that could be relevant to you. Greenwich also have one on offer but I don't think that is available as distance learning. I tried the OU route but dropped it after a year - not a problem with the content so much as my style of learning.
Good luck with your search. L

Hi,

I've only just picked up on the posting. I am currently doing the MA in ECE at Sheffield. It is part distance learning and part residential (some weekends). I'm enjoying it enormously but it is very hard work. If you would like any further details please don't hesitate to ask.
